PREACHING
Dr. Jeff Cooper came to Ashland Church to serve as our senior pastor in June 2016. His unique preaching style creatively combines drama, humor, and illustrations to bring Biblical truths to life and make them relatable and relevant to our daily lives. With a degree in theater from Judson University and a doctorate in preaching from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, you can always expect the unexpected from his messages. Whether he is portraying a biblical character, sharing a personal anecdote, or relating the biblical word to our modern context, you are sure to be engaged and inspired.

Pastor Jeff is a Preacher's preacher which is why he earned a doctorate in preaching, has preached since he was in high school and has taught preaching at the seminary level. Yet, he makes the bible relatable to EVERYONE!
A yearly theme comes from the pastor’s relationship with God and His Word. He believes it must be preachable, meaningful, and Christ-centered. It gives a focus for one year so that the hearers get more of that ‘one thing’, rather than random messages from week to week, while at the same time allowing every week to stand alone.
The theme for 2021 is "HIStory: The Famous One (and the not so famous ones) based on Isaiah 46:9-10a. We are seeing the Bible stories as a window that allows us to see who God is, and as a mirror that allows us to see who we are in light of God's story.
As milestone #3 we will be offering small groups based on the extremely popular and effective study called "The Story" which goes through a shortened version of the entire Bible chronologically. This will take place from the end of April through Thanksgiving.
Isaiah 46:9-10a says, "Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come." God receives pleasure when we come together to hear HIS story and see where our story fits into His and live an abundant life accordingly.
